Tea, Coffee, and Kava
Java Kava is Virginia's first kava bar! Here, we encourage our patrons to join us in creating a new social community which consists of creativity of the arts, a stress free study/work environment, and most of all, a second home that anyone can call their sanctuary.
Kava is traditionally brewed and served by the South Pacific natives, used as a social ceremonial gathering to bring the community together to relax, unwind and let go of the stresses of our everyday life.
Kratom is a tree native to Southeast Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Borneo, etc.). Its botanical name is Mitragyna speciosa. Kratom is in the same family as the coffee tree (Rubiaceae). The leaves of kratom have been used as an herbal drug from time immemorial by peoples of Southeast Asia.
WHAT WE OFFER
WHAT IS KAVA?
Kava is a root from the South Pacific Islands. It has been used traditionally for over 3,000 years for celebration, conflict resolution, and for recreational fun.
Kava is consumed in the form of 'kava juice'—a simple mixture of water & dried, ground kava root. Here at Java Kava, we prepare our Kava fresh, in-house, everyday.
Instead of a glass or a drink or kava, you would order a shell of kava—as kava is served in half coconut shells in the South Pacific. Kava is served in liquid form, and in tradition, nobody shells alone.
WHAT IS KRATOM?
The people of Southeast Asia have used Kratom leaves as an herbal supplement and traditional remedy for hundreds of years.
When taken in appropriate amounts, Kratom has been said to provide increased energy, minor pain relief and many find relief from a variety of other mental and physical ailments. Today, people in the U.S. are consuming Kratom, as they do other herbal supplements and traditional remedies.
